AMD server processors, particularly the EPYC series, use the SP3 socket type. This socket supports the latest EPYC processors with up to 64 cores. SP3 is a land grid array (LGA) socket with 4094 pins, designed specifically to accommodate high-performance processors.
A dual CPU system includes two separate CPUs installed on the motherboard. Each CPU can execute tasks independently of the other. In addition, a dual CPU system comes with more cores and threads, thereby significantly boosting processing capabilities. They also offer more RAM slots, allowing for increased memory capacity.
