Upgrades to HOSTKEY Network in the Netherlands

server one
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of our development plan for our network in the Netherlands. All these changes have improved the quality of the services provided and the network resiliency during a period of significant growth in network load around the world.

The key points of the network upgrades are:

Connections to GlobalNet and DataIX traffic exchange points have been established, providing access to a single traffic exchange network consisting of more than 30 points located in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and the Netherlands.

New communication channels with HE.net have been set up. As you may know, Hurricane Electric operates its own global IPv4 and IPv6 network and is considered the largest IPv6 backbone in the world as measured by the number of networks interconnected. Hurricane Electric is connected to over 200 major exchange points within its global network and exchanges traffic directly with more than 7,500 unique networks.

Employing a resilient fiber-optic topology, Hurricane Electric has no less than five redundant 100G paths spanning North America, five separate 100G paths between the U.S. and Europe, and 100G rings within Europe and Asia. Hurricane also has a ring around Africa, and a PoP in Australia. In addition to its vast global network, Hurricane Electric owns and operates two data centers in Fremont, California — including Hurricane Electric Fremont 2, its newest 200,000 square-foot facility. Hurricane Electric offers IPv4 and IPv6 transit solutions over the same connection. Connection speeds available include 100GE (100 gigabits / second), 40GE, 10GE, and gigabit Ethernet.

Equipment modernization — the network switching equipment has been replaced with solutions from world leaders in network equipment: Cisco Systems and Arista Networks.

The HOSTKEY team is constantly working to improve the quality of its services provided and increase the quality of that service.
